FAQs

THE JEWELLERY

Are the products sterling silver?

Yes they are. We use 950 Professional Silver Art Clay and once fired it is 925 Sterling Silver we also use sterling silver fittings (for example on cufflink arms) and all of the chains and bracelets are sterling silver. The only silver plated item is the keyring circle FOB.

What does the 950 in the Art Clay Silver stand for?

950 is the purity of the silver after firing; once fired you have 95% silver and 5% copper. This means the ACS950 can be hallmarked as sterling silver in the UK.

What size are the charms?

All charms are circa 1.3mm thick and are presented with a heavy jump ring or carrier if selected. Sizing is stated on the individual product pages.

Will my fingerprint/handprint jewellery scratch or dent?

Silver is a relatively soft metal. If an item is worn everyday or hung on a chain or keyring with other items, ineviatably it will gradually age.

How should I store my jewellery?

If you are not wearing your jewellery for a while, it is advisable you store it in an airtight container with the pink anti-tarnish slip that is included with your completed order.  Please also see the section on how to look after my jewellery.

PLACING YOUR ORDER & DELIVERY

How do I take my fingerprints or hand & footprints?

Once you have placed your order you will be sent out the relevant kit. All kits come with all you need and easy-to-follow instructions. For the fingerprint kit you receive moulding putty to capture your little one’s fingerprint, and for the hand & footprint jewellery you receive an inkless wipe and sensitized paper to take your print.

The studio is not open to the public and is by appointment only. If you are local and want to contact us to see if we can take the prints please ring to arrange an appointment on 07855 323024

What will my fingerprint look like?

Your fingerprint is the centrepiece of your jewellery. Please do read the instructions thoroughly before taking your prints – perfect prints make perfect jewellery!

Children under 12 months (sometimes up to 18 months) do not always have very strong developed fingerprints. You will be able to see from the definition in the mould what impression you will get. If you have any concerns please raise them on the order form. The hand and foot print jewellery can be a good alternative option for babies if you are concerned about the detail of the print.

What happens if my handprint/footprint or pawprint is really smudged?

Most smudges can be removed and all prints are tidied up when we are making the 3D stamp of the print. If you are worried about the print you have taken please take a photo and email it to the studio and we will be able to advise you.

How long will it take to make my jewellery?

We aim to make and post your piece within 15 working days from receipt of your prints. Please allow additional time in the run-up to Christmas.

If you are working on a quick turnaround for your item please contact us at the studio before placing your order.

Can you post my jewellery to someone else as a gift?

Yes, we can deliver to any address. All jewellery comes beautifully gift-wrapped. It is posted via recorded delivery and will need to be signed for.

What are your delivery charges?

Delivery charges are included.

What do you do with my used fingerprint/handprint impressions?

We keep prints for approx. 2 years. If you would like the original handprint/prints to be returned to you then we charge a small postage fee. Please email us at the studio.
